The Experience

Ruta del Jefe combines adventure, education, advocacy, and community into a four-day experience unlike a traditional cycling event.

  • One Epic Adventure Ride

Ride through the Patagonia Mountains, San Rafael Valley, and Canelo Hills on immersive routes through the Sky Islands of the Sonoran Desert. Multiple route options accommodate a range of experience levels and desired levels of challenge.

  • Workshops & Educational Experiences

Participate in presentations and conversations focused on conservation, restoration, migration, humanitarian aid, Indigenous food sovereignty, advocacy, and the unique ecology and cultures of the borderlands.

  • Two Community Group Rides

Join shorter rides designed to connect participants, explore the surrounding landscapes, and ease into the weekend together.

  • Shared Meals & Camping

Gather around shared tables and campsites throughout the weekend to build relationships beyond the bike.

  • Music & Dance

Celebrate community, creativity, and joy through evenings of music, storytelling, and dancing.

Advocacy & Fundraising

Ride With Purpose

Ruta del Jefe raises funds and awareness for organizations working throughout the borderlands in conservation, restoration, humanitarian aid, Indigenous food sovereignty, and community resilience.

By participating, riders directly support local organizations while gaining a deeper understanding of the landscapes and communities they experience throughout the weekend.

Coming Soon! Participant Fundraisers will open after registration in the Fall of 2026.

Expanding Access

Scholarships, Access Fund &
Priority Registration

Ruta del Jefe offers priority registration opportunities, reduced-price Access Fund tickets, scholarships, and travel support designed to help reduce barriers to participation for individuals who have historically been underrepresented in cycling and outdoor spaces.

We believe adventure cycling communities are strongest when more people feel welcomed, supported, and represented.
