MUSIC

Nalgona Superstar

Cuenca los Ojos Technician, Fernando Sobarzo Robles and his norteño band from Agua Prieta will preform during happy hour on Friday.

El Paso-based DJ, Nalgona Superstar, will be selecting cumbias, quebraditas, reggaetón, dembow, románticas, rancheras, country, and sound baths for us to party to on Saturday night.

Coffee

Café Justo, a grower-owned Coffee Cooperative based in southern Chiapas, Mexico, was formed to address the poverty and migration from Mexico to the U.S.A. and will support your coffee needs at Ruta del Jefe.

Because we know how much Ruta del Jefe participants like their coffee, we’ll also serve café arriero. Café arriero is the traditional way that rancheros in Northern Mexico used to make coffee during their journeys to exchange products, using an enamelware coffee pot and a handmade cotton filter. Also named café de talega, this way of making coffee is a tradition in Sonora. The beans will be roasted on-site during the event to show more of the process.

HAPPY HOUR

Enjoy the opportunity to mingle with participants, speakers, and workshop leaders while enjoying live music and the taste of the local agave spirits, bacanora, and sotol.

 CAMPING

Tent and 4x4 vehicle camping will occur in one large communal area shaded by cottonwood and birch trees within Cajón Bonito and at the convergence of Agua Cajon Bonito and Los Barres tributaries.
